From an always-reliable Wiki Source: Bizzare Ceremony at the India/Pak border

Our erstwhile friends the Paks and our genuine friends the Indians have this very, (how shall I put this?)..interesting tradition at a border crossing. On a daily basis they hold what is called the 'beating retreat ceremony.' It's a strange amalgam and mutation of british military tradition, british comedy (I'm thinking Monty Python 'silly walks') and the three stooges. It comes complete with howling Paks and Indians cheering and jeering as the 45 minute ceremony unfolds. It's worth the commercial you have to sit through to see the story. Reminds me a bit of the New Zealand All-Black Rugby club.
