He is now in the U.S. working for VOA's Persian service.
The account of torture is harrowing (and the attempted moral comparison/equivocation with Gitmo treatment toward the end of the piece is, to say the least, forced, in light of the true barbarism of the regime.)
Exit question: Assuming the regime falls, would Batebi be someone who could serve his nation as a leader of a democratic Iran?
