Death Storm 2009 approaches: State of Maryland in full panic..

With apologies to the Mercury Theater:

We join the radio broadcast already in progress..

Wolf Blitzen: and now..Let's take you there live..!

[Local radio reporter on top of building, Inner Harbor, Downtown Baltimore]:

I'm speaking to you from the roof of broadcasting building..are we on?..I'm speaking to you from the roof of broadcasting building...

[Pauses. We hear boats, car traffic, wind, voices singing hymns]

I can see all manner of boat in the harbor. The Constitution is being used..the lighthouse boat..Yachts, Coast Guard, fishing boats, looks almost like the evacuation of Dunkirk.. Yard Patrol boats from the Naval Academy..

Horns are blowing in warning as Death Storm approaches. Roads hopelessly congested. Frantic human traffic. The Governor has declared a state of emergency..

Cars..pedestrians..police..National guard.. all of them below me now.

All major local media are in full 'storm team' coverage mode. We'll be with you to the very end..

[Pauses, stifles a sob.]

I see my colleagues now on neighboring buildings here.

Searchlights stab the night, sweeping the night sky.

[Stops again...talking with someone..paper rustles..]

I've just had a bulletin handed me...Local stores have run out of milk, bread and toilet paper. Lines stretch for blocks..

Reports of desperate people ransacking stores. Rending of garments, weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth...

Services are being held in the church below me now. Hymns being sung..

Yes..I think I see it now...dark..vast...A snowflake has just brushed me...This is the end now.. More flakes 50 feet to my right..25...

WE'RE ALL GONNNA DIE!!!

[Sound of mike being dropped, and man falling faint.
Silence...some wind... After about 30 seconds A HAM radio operator is heard plaintively..]

This is 2X2L calling CQ...2X2L calling CQ..Is there anyone on the air?

2X2L calling CQ..

2X2L calling CQ..Isn't there anyone?

Isn't there anyone?

Silence...White noise...
